A sermon against surrender
Surrender is that sort of catch phrase we’re all defenseless against. You cannot argue its validity, but it’s also grade A douchedom to use it on anyone who’s experiencing difficulty.
Let me force a metaphor here: When you’re dragging yourself through a desert, someone mentioning the life-giving nature of water does nothing to ease your misery, and deserves a kick in the shin.
I’d prefer you invite me to howl at the invisible moon, or give me permission to release a string of colorful expletives instead. Anything that dances more closely with the state and conundrum of being human.
